Before I started Yelping this was our to go to when craving for authentic Mexican cuisine. Tio's Tacos has been considered as the City of Riverside's landmark since it was established in 1990. It's rustic art displays made of recycled items from scraps of metals and glass bottles created the ambience of treasured pieces of artistry. Food and service are fantastic. I had the wet burrito with all pastor. Loved the flavored sauce that was not too spicy!! Had the Cucumber Mango drink which was very refreshing complimented my meal. There's a limited seating area inside but a vast outdoor space for dining for big parties. After ordering from a window located outside the restaurant, you are given a number then food will be brought to your table. My family enjoyed celebrating a birthday and will be coming back even with no celebration!!! Restrooms are kept locked so staff had to open it for you ...

Absolutely LOVED this place, highly recommend it if you are in Riverside! It is a whole experience! I ordered a carne asada burrito and a michelada both of which were huge in size. Not only can you sit inside but there is so much space outdoors among the amazing and creative art. There is so much beauty and history at this restaurant. We ordered at the counter but were immediately checked on upon sitting. Service was great and they were very attentive. I can't wait to go back! Great authentic Mexican food!

If you're in Riverside, Tio's Tacos is a must-visit! This place is not just a restaurant; it's a feast for the senses. The amazing art all around the place adds a quirky and fun vibe that you won't find anywhere else. The art is a captivating mix of colorful sculptures made from recycled materials, whimsical installations, and intricate mosaics. It's like stepping into a vibrant, eclectic wonderland. The food? Absolutely terrific! I had the wet burrito, and it was deliciously messy and packed with flavor. The agua frescas refreshing, perfect for a hot day. The salsas had just the right amount of spice, and the flan was the creamy, sweet treat that ended the meal on a high note. Tio's Tacos is an all-around fun and delicious experience that you don't want to miss. Highly recommended for great food and a great time!

Super cute tourist place for pictures, friendly employees food was just ok, wasn't impressed. The aguas frescas however were delicious. We were there before 9am shortly after opening so parking was abundant and there was no wait in ordering but as we were eating more and more people were arriving and by the time we left the parking lot was full. There is some street parking but gave us an idea of how popular it is especially being that it was a Wednesday morning.

Beautiful day for Friday lunch so the ROMEOs went to visit uncle. The additional decor since my last visit is worth the trip alone. Very small quarters for the counter while ordering, which will create a line out the door, but once you order and find the vastness and creativity of the various patios You almost lose the food in all the sensory overload. I had my mind set on a chile relleno plate or burrito and settled on two rellenos beans rice and flour tortillas. The pepper was cooked tender and the cheese inside was nicely melted, the coating or batter wasn't helpful. I would eat them again. The rest of the table had crispy chicken and shredded beef tacos all got a positive nod, burrito bowls were good and beef fajitas to go. The food was good, delivered mostly correct but the pinto beans were described as a little loose or watery. Over all a good experience and I can't wait to bring my kids back to see all the updates artwork. Food-4 Service-4 Value-5 Retired Old Men Eating Out.

Hi! A friend took me to Tio's Tacos in Riverside today for a belated birthday lunch. If you have never been, you HAVE to go! This is, without a doubt, the most outrageous restaurant I have ever been to! The five star review is as much about the ambience as anything else! Don't get me wrong. My food was good. I had three carnitas street tacos. They were on taco Tuesday special for $1.99 each! The deal of the century! Especially in today's price climate! The tacos were not the tiny street tacos I was expecting. They were full sized corn tortillas. A nice portion of meat, onions, cilantro and salsa. Quite tasty and a great deal. I also had an ice tea. $3.99! PRICEY! And they charge for refills! I would normally knock a star off for charging for refills on an already overpriced drink. But, again, the rating is mostly for the ambiance! The service was good. You order at a counter and they bring the food to you. I suggest you sit out at the patio. Waiting for your food gives you a chance to look around! There are unusual art pieces all over the place. Sculptures everywhere you look! Make sure you look closely at what everything is made of. I don't want to spoil it. Just go!!!! You really have to experience this place!!! Jim

Great Place!!!! Sooooo many things to look at. Make sure when you go read all the signs. The employees were super nice and grateful that we were there. So many places to sit and it took a while to decide where to sit. Everything there was so random but that's what makes the place fun to eat at. The torta I ate was great with a lot of flavor and my friend enjoyed his wet burrito. There were so many Agua Frescas to choose from. If you are going with a lot of people the parking is very scarce, but when you come don't be overwhelmed. Take your time and look around. The food also comes out fast.
